It was manned by a fellow who tallied the weights and issued chits for same - another feller who manhandled the approximately 30 kilo bags of roses being brought in, and also put them on the portable spring-scales to determine weight, and the child of the talley fellow. Finally, there were 2 or 3 retired folks who dropped in for a chat.
Every few minutes, a car, truck or horse wagon would pull up, deliver a few bags of roses and get their chit. Even buses would stop and folks who didn't own a vehicle would get off with their rose bags.We were offered copious amounts of Turkish Sage Tea (Salvia fruticosa, syn. triloba) and fruits of the Igde Tree .. they are fuzzy and similar to figs. Lovely compliments to that moment of listening to the birds singing, watching the children playing around the Rose petal bags, and smelling the wonderful scent of the fragrant Igde Trees.
